Bastille Day in Paris

Declared a national holiday in 1880, July 14th marks the celebration of the French Republic.

On this occasion, every year since the First World War, on July 14, 1919, the military parade has taken place on the Champs-Élysées, with some exceptions.Firstly, as an echo of the victory in the Great War, this review of the troops is both a demonstration of power and, more recently, a way to better understand the different professions within the French military power.
The parade takes place in the presence of the President of the French Republic, the Prime Minister, and a large part of the government, the presidents of the Senate and the National Assembly, as well as foreign ambassadors to France, gathered in the grandstand, which is backed by the obelisk of the Concorde.

The opening flypast includes, in addition to the nine Alpha Jets of the Patrouille de France, some sixty aircraft, and thirty helicopters. After the main flypast, around ten French army helicopters land on the Esplanade des Invalides, the occasion for French citizen to come learn and speak to the different units.

This is an opportunity to take photos in an unusual frame for such a machine and to meet the pilots and crew, sharing their experiences.

Unfortunately, this event doesn't necessarily take place every year, so make the most of it while it lasts.
